Woes of a Due Date Come and Gone

As you can tell from my blogging and the title, I'm still here. I'm still pregnant. I'm still working. I'm so over it. Nine months really is the ideal time and into the 10th month every day, hour, second seems to stretch on forever. You start to wonder if there will ever be a time when you are not pregnant... Melodramatic much?

Well this post is just to fill you in on life beyond the due date.

*I've still been going into work but once I am done teaching for the day I leave in favor of long walks and big lunches.

*Speaking of long walks, we walk the neighborhood, we walk IKEA, we walk the Res, we repeat.

*We've tried spicy food and pineapple. We've tried relaxing baths and daily tea. All of the wives tales. How are they working? Well I'm still here right?

*My beloved Saltwaters, the only shoes that fit me toward the end, decided that being worn every day for 3 months straight was not something they could endure and they broke. So we ran to the shoe store to find something that fit and something with support that I could wear to school. These off brand Tom's with memory foam inserts have gotten me through the week, praise God. But please do not mistake my excitement over pregnancy shoes for still wanting to be pregnant...

*The pitying looks, oh those sad eyes. The hardest thing about being at work is not the teaching, though that gets increasingly more difficult daily. The hardest thing is responding to peoples response to seeing me. Students are outraged, co-workers feel sorry, all around every conversation is a reminder that you still haven't had that baby.

*"Any Day Now" is the most dangerous phrase. As soon as we reached full-term Tim and I seemed to be excitedly/nervously exclaiming this on the reg. And time passes like molasses and any day now is the biggest farce. I'm wondering if we jinxed ourselves because any day now could actually, cruelly, be 2 weeks from now.

*I've found that my feeling of preparedness is on a bell curve. Around 38 weeks I was so ready. I wanted to meet her and the house was in order and everything was perfect and ready to go. As time goes on I keep panicking about the more and more I find to do or things we forgot or read blogs about things we don't have. You get to a point after the due date when you wonder what "prepared" is and if you will ever be ready. The anxiety sets in and you start to doubt that there will ever be a reprieve of "ready or not."

All this to say that we are till waiting on our Lady Kenney. Pray for patience and our sanity. And of course please pray for a healthy delivery for our little one because guys I'm dying to introduce you!

Life Lately

A few pictures of all that we've accomplished in this, the ninth month of pregnancy.

Tim celebrated a birthday! We are excited that Lady Kenney will be born basically half way between our birthdays. It will make for a fun September-October long celebration. Tim had two simple birthday requests, wings and historical sites. Thankfully, neither of those things are hard to come by in our neck of the woods. So on his actual birthday, we went to Harry's Bar with a group of friends to fulfill the first requirement. And then over the long Labor Day weekend, we explored the Adams Farm in Quincy (a great supplement to our end of summer show, the HBO John Adams mini-series).
We've run a lot of errands into the subarbs of Boston to make sure that we have everything we need. Her room is set up, everything is in its place, and we enjoyed our fair share of milk shakes and diet cokes on our busy days.
Tim and I started school/ work. The days are long, the feet are swollen, but the company is great. My plan is to work until she comes, whenever that may be. Tim is working in the BC STM admissions this year and we found so many new friends who share mutual friends at the new student events.
On my first day back to work, my co-workers threw me a beautiful baby shower. I am blessed by the people I work with and this little girl is so loved.
Speaking of baby showers, earlier this month Tim's family threw us a virtual shower. Let me tell you how fun it was to come home from work to packages every day! We are so spoiled and so grateful!
So there we are, all caught up. Tuesday will begin the 10th month of pregnancy. My mom gets to Boston today. And now we wait to see what her timeline is. Whenever Lady Kenney's ready to meet us, we will be more than prepared.

That's all she wrote. And she didn't write much but pics or it didn't happen.

Tim and Kate Plus Fate

Here I am in my natural habitat, documenting life events almost a month after they occur. This time around? Tim and Kate's Cape Cod Wedding. CUA friends rented a house for a long weekend and had a blast celebrating two beautiful peoples nuptials.
Pre-mass selfies with the program distributers.
The most stunning bride and Franciscan Altar servers.
It was such a privilege to celebrate the Sacrament with this beautiful couple. And some post-sacrament celebration at the house before the pre-reception celebration cocktail hour with antique cars. And of course the big celebration reception followed by the post-reception celebration/ after-party at the BBC. Pictures to follow:

As games were played you can see what my priority was... eating all of the food out of the fridge.
Don't judge my shoes, even my pretty flip-flops wouldn't fit my feet that weekend.
There's something to be said for the kind of friends who can pick up exactly where things left off because while everything around us is changing, I take joy in these constants.
A beautiful reception and the cars as I mentioned.
By far the fiercest thing I have ever heard of anyone doing in a wedding dress.
So it was a beautiful day with the most beautiful people. Thanks for inviting us to share in the joy Tim and Kate! I'm excited to share about the rest of the Cape Weekend soon...
