It Was So Real

So my two best ladies took me out for a night in Georgetown to pretend a Senior Thesis was a figment of my imagination. It was truly wonderful to be with Shannon and Ines and to think about wedding things and not finals, and white dresses instead of senior year.

We had such a lovely night on the town and it made everything so real. By that I mean that I wasn't just planning a Liturgy and Party but I was planning all of that for me? I don't know why, even as I type this I just feel silly but it really hit home, like out of the park, over the fence, world series kind of stuff.

So off to J. Crew bridal salon we went, because do you know Shannon and Ines?!?!?!?!?!?!?! It was actually surreal and even now I cannot put into words the emotion I felt. I had a complete blast but as soon as we left the store I felt confused or drunk as if I gave all the sanity I had left to that Bridal Salon in J. Crew Georgetown. And I did, and I had a week of psycho-Rylee during final exams to prove it.

So here are some of the many, many dresses I tried on. So many styles, so many fabrics, so little time, so much to do, I'd rather spend my day with you. Are you melting inside? Me too. I haven't picked one dress yet, but you'll know when I do and you can see it on August 9th.

Fanksgiving

Like a sad little Murph, I have gotten lazy. But I am sorry blogoshpere, I did not mean to forget about you. So here's to Thanksgiving. I know, I know, Rylee it's December! but remember friends, don't judge me too hard because Fanksgiving was freaky, freaky late this year. Like way Freaky.

The weather that long weekend was brutal beyond brutal and we didn't get to head north like we traditionally do. Instead, my weekend was as follows:

On Thanksgiving (yes Shafer, it is odd that Thanksgiving always seems to fall on a Thursday), we cleaned the furnace room because a happy day for the Magee's means a productive one. And then we were sent out to the "Black Friday" madness. Happy Thanksgiving y'all because Friday shop-to-the-death now starts at 2 pm on a Family day. What a sad, sad reality that is this country. And what a sadder life that I participated. But really. We were sent out for TVs and I bought myself some Tupperware. (Merry Christmas Tim!). So happy dayz, Walmart now makes me feel domesticated and stuff... America.

Then we came home for our feast and everyone in our Fam gets a place card... and waaaaaaaaaay too much dinner scraps.

Grade school basketball tournaments are all the rage this Holiday season.

Channeling my brownie days with this piece of advice; make new friends. But keep the old. One is silver. But the other's gold. A circle is round. It has no end. That's how long I want to be your friend. Ba da boom with the best of the best.

So we met up with friends for a little bit of lazy competition.

And I have but one question for you, How do you like me now?!?!?!?

Caleb started doing this, it was scary and way to much for us amateurs.

C to the A to the K to the E, that spells CAKE what what baby.

And at the end of the weekend I got to see Timothy. For 9 hours. He told me we would pull an all nighter so we could spend time together but about 3 hours in he starts snoring so that's good. Before passing out I made him pose for this rull ruff photo to prove that he was real, thanks hun, you're a trooper.

Stay warm South Bend.

Q: How many pics does it take to get a Christmas Card? (A Progression)

A:Too Many
(In reverse order and I am way too lazy to fix it)
Maybe you can scroll from the bottom? Or you can watch us descend into chaos?

Have a Merry Christmas CUA, and travel safely back home this week. Praying for y'all and your exams.
Love,
The House

Thankful for's...

I am settling back home after being home-home for a weekend. It was such a wonderful family weekend and I have so much to be grateful for. So I thought, after closing out this Thanksgiving holiday, I would give you all a list of things that I am appreciative for from the trip.

'njoy.

2013 Rylee's Thankful for's...

... studying abroad for giving me the ability to fall asleep before take off, wake up during drink service, and fall asleep again until landing. Even when I am not tired, without fail.

... flight attendants who go through the effort to personalize their script at the beginning of every flight. Imma hold off on my nap to listen to you, not because I like Star Wars (I don't.) but because I appreciate your creativity.

...snow.

... the presence of cheesecake in my life.

...cleaning the furnace room to give my dad the opportunity for a productive day and teaching the next generation of Magee's to not keep EVERYTHING (mom) and stay organized to stay sane.

... for a friend group that is split between competitiveness and indifference, and the non-judgement either way.

...also for friends who get me; because I wasn't going to eat a whole nother muffin but I didn't want to make you feel self-conscious so you're welcome/ I stink at all athleticism but still, How DO You Like Me Now?!?!!?

...snow plows.

...for younger brothers who are finally old enough to shovel the driveway themselves.

...professors who didn't give homework over break (as for the others... you know what you've done).

...leftover stuffing.

...access to a fully stocked kitchen.

...when all else fails, wine.

...to those lovely people who complimented my scarf today. I appreciate your appreciation of my Walmart fashion.

...sisters who give away good things. hand-me-up's are now officially a thing.

...Internet to text seesters who are very far away.

...9 hours with Timothy James. He said that due to our limited time we were going to pull an all nighter... By 3am this kid was snoring.

...trombone players.

...Walmart on Thanksgiving day, to show the humor that is America, it was a pleasure.

...the men who stand outside the door with bells for donations. People should ring bells more often.

...Jared jewelers for not judging my crazy.

...moms who drink wine with daughters.

...Crock pots on sale for Black Friday for ten dolla. holla holla dolla dolla.

...concession stand popcorn.

...volleyball madness with frands to show just how horrible we really are. It is a sad reality that I still only know how to serve underhand and am bruised after only 20 minutes of playing. But I hit the ball soooooooo.

...fountain diet coke from McDonalds.

...the woman who sprinted ahead of me and snatched the later flight/ plane voucher deal right out of my reach (I blame my short legs for a short stride) and allowed me the privilege of flying (for the first time ever) in first class.

...the man in 4B for not judging me too hard over my minor overreaction to the treatment people in first class receive (I was going to take a picture of my meal! but I refrained for all involved... but believe me it was majestic).

...when sisters like my clothes enough to borrow them and ask for fashion advice.

...IKEA for smelling good.

...and food. and friends. and family. How could I ever forget the reason for the season!?!?! Clearly I have much to be thankful for... I hope you did too. Enjoy your day.
