LaraBean

Last weekend Lara and her roommate Christine came to visit us here in Boston. Below you will find the pictured chronicles of our expeditions. Among the adventures (pictured and not): a walking tour of all of Boston, lunch at Flour Cafe, tour of the Public Library, a brief stop at Primark, the North End and Italian Pastries from Bova's, homemade cookies from both Lara and Tim, Corrib Pub dinner and delicious drinks, Brunch on Duncklee, and breathtaking views of the city at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Thanks for coming to visit! We loved seeing you Lars and meeting Christine. Any excuse and motivation to play tourist in our own city.

MFA

Tim had to go to a Museum for a homework assignment, and it was just another perk of being the family of a grad student. We checked out an Museum of Fine Arts pass from the library and made a family outing of a rainy afternoon.

We were the irrational parents who took a 5 month old to a prestigious art museum... She did better than we predicted; we got to take a break and feed her on a comfy bench in front of a collection of Rembrandts, walk circles through galleries to put her to sleep, and see the visiting Picasso collection. At one point Tim caught up with us while I swung her through a hallway of impressionist paintings, praying that would make her stop fussing in the painfully quiet gallery AND that she wouldn't choose that moment to projectile vomit all over Monet.

Texts from Dad

I guess this is more of a photo dump than anything else. Tim was home for spring break last (last) week which meant that he got to be with Gemma all day. Which also meant that I got the jealousy inducing texts of "look how cute she is" but also the empathy driven "this is the first time that she has fallen asleep all day and all I want is to shower..." You can get a bit of our shared text stream here, starting with the excursion based collection:
And the sleeping collection:
And of course, texts from home:
And this one obviously I took but it was too cute not to be included.
Happy Last Grad-school Spring Break Timothy!

Gemma- 5 Months

The River of Time (a little shout out to my students who pretend they don't read this)... it just keeps rolling. And five months already?!?!
She's such a happy little Gem
Who's like why do you fools always put a camera in my face?
She's a happy girl who's started getting cheeks now that we've tried some solids.
There will be a time when Gemma needs a baby picture for school projects, yearbooks, and comparison to her own children... guaranteed that this will be the picture I keep coming back to. It's so her, and those arm rolls!
In 5 months she is a rolling machine who recently found her bottom lip.
Two Things:
1. She is wearing a diaper (I am so not that brave and definitely not willing to risk that.)
2. She can't sit up on her own yet, the Bumbo is undercover.
In five months she is a Facetiming expert who loves singing and moving. She's such an extrovert, I'm guessing Sanguine like her dad, who calls her his little flirt. (See above photo)
