There is no such thing as fall without Notre Dame football, even with a loosing season. We were so lucky enough to be able to visit South Bend twice this year and introduce Gemma to a lifelong love.
We drove out for the game which is crazy by most peoples standards... probably our too. We left after work on Friday and were in Indiana all day Saturday and then for Mass and breakfast on Sunday and we were on the road again. Gemma pretty much hated us for it but the number of people excited to see her cancels that out.
We planned this trip back in the spring of last year when we still thought we would be traveling from Boston. It served as a small reunion of many of Tim's classmates and Glee Clubbers. Meredith hosted us for brunch and then we met up with friends at a young alumni event, and finally, Tim (and Gemma!) got to sing with the Glee Club! It was a great day, as planned. And slowly as we made plans to get to South Bend, one by one my sisters coordinated trips. This resulted in my parents throwing my brothers in a car and driving north from Florida because if all 4 girls would be there, they wanted to take part. I guess you can say they are where we get the crazy kind of ideas to go to Notre Dame for a weekend... it's nature and nurture.
As it was, it was so great to see everyone, to be on campus, and to be in a place that provides comfort and joy. Even a lost football game couldn't take that from us.
